Wisdom Teeth Removal

    Home Wisdom Teeth Removal
    Wisdom Tooth Removal

The wisdom teeth are the final four teeth to erupt from the gums. According to latest surveys, at least 8 out of 10 Singaporeans would have at least one wisdom tooth that is impacted. Even if the teeth erupt normally, wisdom teeth may cause overcrowding or grow in an angle that can be a problem in the future. That’s why some people choose to remove their wisdom teeth to prevent infection, decay, crowding and other complications.

Do I need to remove my wisdom teeth or wisdom tooth?

You may need to remove your wisdom teeth if you have one or more impacted wisdom teeth or you have problems cleaning and flossing them. A dental exam with X-ray will reveal the impact and damage to surrounding teeth, signs of decay, gum problems and other possible problems.

What should I expect during wisdom teeth removal?

Usually for upper wisdom tooth, it’s usually just an extraction to get the tooth removed. For lower wisdom tooth, that would usually involve a surgery to remove the tooth and then the gums are stitched back. You will be given medications and MC usually as it will take a few days for your wound to heal.

What about the post treatment care?

Please keep the extraction site clean and use the antiseptic mouthwash prescribed for 7 days. You will need to take medications prescribed by our dentists. Avoid sucking a straw for the first several days after surgery to avoid dry socket. Please notify us if you experience fever or discomfort that worsens after a few days.
