What to do if my child’s tooth was knocked out

Written by Dr. Juliana Tian

If it is a baby tooth: Bring your child to your dentist as soon as possible. Do not replant the baby tooth as this could potentially damage the underlying permanent tooth.

If it is an adult tooth: Try to find the tooth that was knocked out, and bring your child to your dentist as soon as possible. Try to replant the adult tooth immediately, if possible. If not, place the tooth in a solution of saliva or milk. Avoid using water as this can potentially damage the cells in the adult tooth.
